If you are tired of your everyday cape cod, new construction, or colonial style home then here is your answer to the future of architecture! This home was built by Bob Stansel and Tammy Marek as a retirement home in East Hampton, New York.

This 6,400 square foot home is modest at first glance, but boasts 3,200 of its square feet underground thanks to subterranean construction. This allowed the retired couple to bypass certain restrictive building codes in the city, while at the same time not overwhelming their new neighbors with a monster of a home.

Maybe in the future more home builders will use this idea when creating dream homes!!
